It could be Vampire or Ohno Continuous Cast magnet wire which may or may not be the same thing. It may be difficult to find cast wire in 16 gauge. The quoted text reminds me of Michael Percy who may still provide the Vampire/Ohno wire. Sonic Craft sells 20 gauge Vampire wire as I expect others do.
