And by "black" I mean drop all output sound?
I recently purchased a pair of Pope 6V6GT output tubes from a fellow on US Audiomart. These were purchased from Upscale Audio and sat around unused.
When I put them into my system, one of the tubes just shut down in about 10-15 minutes. The music faded to black like I had shut down the amp without shutting off the music playing. I swapped the tubes around and the other channel shut down within about 10 minutes.
What causes a tube to behave in this manner?
My only experience with tubes going bad has consisted of them getting statically, making popping sounds and the lights getting brighter. Never just a quiet dying out.
Thanks.
