The difference in image could be due to more extended top end on the Silvertones. Those Silvertones were likely made by Sylvania. If they are Sylvania, they have a rep for an airy, extended top that leads to a better image. After extended listening to both tubes, you may come to find that Sylvanias are more balanced from top to bottom, but they don't have the sweetness in the mids like the RCA. It comes down to taste in the end. Use what you like the most. Having a choice is a good thing.
