I think most of the price for vintage 12ax7 is the collector's price for a nos/nib tube. Price for used tubes are still high but not ridiculously high. Often times on the bay a seller would be a totally STOOPID buy it now price on a most mundane thing. Like 100.00 slide switches, etc. Probably these are money laundering schemes.
