What does the top of your tube socket look like with the tube removed? Some ceramic tube sockets have a raised center with a circular groove and your tube will never go in all the way no matter what you do. (See pic.) In that case it would appear the design to be intentional. Unfortunately the tube will be prone to rocking.
If possible I would say to tighten each pin receptacle. When plugging a tube in, keep it as straight as possible so the center of the tube sits flat on the raised socket center. This is assuming the tube bottom actually touches the socket center. You can test if it touches by using a bit of blu tac or something similar on the socket center then put the tube in and out to see if it disturbed the blu tac. ( No blu tac? Even a crayon or tiny bit of grease. Peanut butter or toothpaste will work too LOL! Anything you have that will not be runny and can easily be wipe clean.)
