The far more serious one would be the effect on current. If his power amp employs the traditional power supply scheme, there will be significant reduction in the current delivery.I did quick measurement using a power amp delivering just 50W into 8 Ohm load, just one channel.
First - straight into the wall outlet, and then fed through a good quality isolation transformer of about the same size as shown here.
With the introduction of the transformer the current peaks dropped by a factor of 2. And this - with a fairly moderate power delivery.
As I said before - there WILL be effect, whether pleasing or not I can't tell.
My general recommendation for systems of moderate power is usually for AT LEAST 2KVA isolation transformer rating. But if at all possible, go for 4-5KVA.
Consider something like this - it is not too big, and not expensive by the high end audio standards. :)
