RE: The Joy of New Tubes

the mullard reissues are cheap enough at $100 or less a quad that you could replace them yearly on general principals. also, you are not comparing apples to apples. the 77 has a totally different sound than the 34 no matter which brand you were to buy. it is a more linear sounding tube with stronger bass and trebble, but i caution that in spite of looser bass, several people i know who were temporarily in love with the 77 but went back to the 34 for the musicality that only the 34 or an SET seem to provide. your experience may be different based on your system of course and i hope you stay in love, but it is cheap enough to go back.
