Given the thread below on the questionable reliability of JJ tubes, in your opinion does this lack of QC also apply to the 2A3-40? The general consensus seems to be that these problems exist with the octals, not the power tubes. I'm currently running the stock Sovteks that came with my Ultra-Fi monos and they sound good, but are perhaps a little lacking on "punch" and "air". If the QC issue doesn't seem to apply to the 2A3-40s, for those that do run them, where do you prefer to buy them? Jim doesn't appear to carry them, and of course there could be a good reason for that (as he's already stated) but without mentioning this particular tube.

If not the 2A3-40, then what? Jim does carry the EH 2A3 Gold, which could also be an option, with the advantage of knowing they've been properly checked before shipment.
