Got the new toobs today

Received a matched pair of NOS Telefunken 6922s from NOS Tube Store today.

The first good news - I installed them without issue, turned the unit back on - and no flames anywhere! Replaced the stock ElectroHarmonix 6922EHs that came with the Manley Steelhead.

First impressions (Based on Eric Clapton Unplugged, Van Morrison Moondance and Cat Stevens Teaser and the Firecat):

* These suckers are QUIET! My unit was quiet before, but this is ridiculous; it's like they are sonic black holes.

* Bass is pluckier/punchier without being heavy.

* Attacks in general (guitar strings, drums, piano) are crisper.

* Soundstage seems similar in width and depth, but individual instruments/voices seem to be more precisely placed.


Now, I know I'm subject to "I got something new so I must be able to hear a difference." So I'm trying not to go overboard with this. But it does sound NICE.

Eager to try other kinds of music that I listen to a lot (jazz and classical).
