A couple of things. The lower gain 5751 most likely caused you to use more of your volume control, which if it was hair trigger before, is now better used giving you your "inner detail". You also may have affected the RIAA network with the slightly different tube type. Glad it worked out for your. In olden times, this is why there were bass and treble knobs.
