RE: New production 6550's

Hi,

Yes -- dealer moving out of McIntosh and had a few pieces left, including this MC275-VI new in box. I couldn't stop myself, fortunately.

Thanks for the tip on the GLs and input tubes. I'm going to let this cook for a week in order to get used to its sound as stock and then roll some of the tubes. I have the GL KT88s and can borrow Winged-C 6550s, and I have some NOS AX7s and AT7s somewhere.

It is an amazing-sounding amp. I've tried it with a few speakers and it works beautifully with all of them, including the little LS50s, which seem twice the size with the Mac. Very different from my Rogue and absolutely silent -- no tube noise, AC hum, nuttin.

Back to the music!
