If the Zen amp won't give you enough juice, a 2a3 won't cut it either. I've got the Zen amp too, and I first tried it with the Vandersteen 2cs without success. There was too much clipping going on. I think Jack's point about the steady impedance is what is critical here. Other speakers at close or the same sensitivity as the Vandies perform fine with the Zen. so I think they are not a good match for these low watt amps. But they are tube friendly when it comes to push/pull. With my Jolida 302a (50wpc) the Vandersteens sound really fine. Maybe you ought to try a higher wattage push/pull tube design.Too bad about the Zen match up; with the right speakers, it can really sound good.
