New Audio Frontiers Legend-II (pls see my previous posts on the Amp Asylum).
I owned before a Unison Research Sinfonia integrated amplifier and a Nightingale ADM-35 integrated amplifier (both made in Italy). Both sounded good but both proved to be unreliable. They started to blow fuses and tubes (the Unison blew a resistor) as far as I started to roll tubes (or, rather, when I switched back from old to the stock output tubes). And it is the same dealer who then also gave me the same warning saying that I should not have changed the tubes.
Now this dealer says that the more expensive is the gear the more frail, demanding and "whimsical" it should be, which I doubt.
Such guys as Mike Samra come to mind who bravely change tubes and effectively change schematics and "reverse engineer" their products (I doubt, however, that they would mess with some expensive but foolishly crafted modern gear).
NBow my Chinese $300 K&D Industrial Co. single-ended amplfier sounds great (I changed the stock 6SN7 equivalent tubes for Sylvania VT-231 tubes to great advange and this dos not cause any problem).
