How many of us used Chinese tubes thr-out our systems. Sure we may have used a tube here and there , but the mainstay of our tubes tended to be Russian or JJ (where country they are in now) for power tunes and for me, almost all my input tubes, were NOS types with may be a current product only here and there. I have used the Chinese 12AX7 C9 which I really liked and so they promptly stopped making. I had was intended to try the Russian GL for other 9 pin applications. Lifes circumstanses took me away from that...
but when I get most of my gear back.... I will be very reluctant to use a Chinese or Russian octals (6SN7) because I have literally over 100 maybe 200+ NOS ANOS tubes. I really love 5751s and spent a lot of time and money pursueing those which I use for 12AX7s, same with 7316s even harder to find which are my 12AU7s. I have these and other treasues why try Chinese. I certainly don't want to discover they are better than what I have, forcing me to sell that which I worked so hard to collect. I am still a little low on good 6922 typs and have few 5687s I might be able to tolerate the Russian GL being as good. It will just mean weeks of advertising and dealing with who knows.
