I'm after a set of four 2a3. My first priority is smooth upper mids and treble. Must sound sweet on violins and orchestral music in general.
I have some of the old Chinese biplates and I like these quite a lot. I'd buy more if I could find suppliers, but I think production has stopped?
I hate the Sovteks - hard treble is just not acceptable. I've heard about running them at 45 operating points but haven't tried this.
I'm not looking to spend money, so JJ and EML are out.
I can get decent prices on Chinese 2a3 B and C. Can anyone compare these for treble quality?
Many thanks!
Andy
