7 Pins not enough for twin triodes...

...unless they share a cathode or something. For a single triode, the 6ER5 and similar have a plate resistance not too different from half a 6SN7 (5K vs. 7K) but much higher gain factor (about 70 vs. about 20.) Some of these types e.g. 6GK5, 6ES5 are very inexpensive. Jim McShane has them, among others. They can perform very well, but are not electrically (or probably sonically) equivalent to a good 6SN7. Perhaps someone else knows a closer equivalent?
