Try cleaning the pins first using isopropyl alcohol with cotton q-tips rubbing hard up/down along each pin and in particular around the glass base where the pin disappears into the moulded glass base. Then straighten the 9 pins using a phenolic plastic protector tube base using both faces before inserting into any circuit. You'll find less tubes producing a fissure/crack in the region just above the base section that has been moulded into the the rest of the glass envelope.
