I've tried the EH 6CA7 and the Genelex KT77 in single-ended configuration, and though they are different sounding, I would not say that one is heads and shoulders above the other. Both great tubes depending on the "sound" one is trying to achieve. I've tried several other tubes in the EL-34 family, and those two are top notch new production tubes.
I'm now using the 6P3Se (thank you Jim McShane) and so far, these are my favorite of the lot. Great extension, not fat or slow, but very smooth with no nasties. I'm grateful to Mr. Samra for bringing these tubes to my attention, because I never would have known about or chosen them without his recommendations on this board. Great tube!
