I have used NOS, but since there are some pretty decent new production tubes out there (IMO), I have quit chasing the NOS train. Your tastes may vary, so try both NOS and new.

For new production, I like the Psvane 12ax7, and the new Gold Lion 12ax7. I found the GL to be more laid back sounding than the Psvane, so you may need to try both to see which you like better. I had liked the TS Full Music 12ax7, but the Psvane and GL are better for my tastes and my rig.

IMO you also get nice improvements with Power Conditioning and Power Cords on this Pre - but again that is something you need to decide on getting into or not.
