If you are set on new production , as Old Mullards Gt. Britian are the obvious warmer tube, you may want to consider other brands aside from JJ. I like the JJ 803S I am using in a preamp gain position but it sounds very nuetral to me not warm.
I like the re-issue Tung Sol 12AX7 and hear only good things about the more costly Genelex which make a 12AX7 and 12AU7. BTW both will have an effect on sound at least IME. The regular non gold pin Tung Sols are a nice full tube and not expensive I would try that. You should be able to buy them easily. Ask Jim McShane for guidance as well.
