My experience with 5751's (mostly 1950's era two and three mica varieties) is that the midrange is MUCH better, than the standard 12AX7. The bass to mid's response is smoother. My favorite are the black plate, triple mica mil spec Sylvania 5751. I found them just as good as the much vaulted Gold Pin Sylvania 5751, of the same era.
