There is more to this Wright unit than the little rectifier...
Is this the version that uses the quad of 12AU7 instead of the earlier quad of 6ER5 version? If so, there is a good place to think about making changes.
My unit also has a single 12AU7 in addition to the quad of 6ER5. If you do as well, there is another place to play.
In short, don't fixate on a Radiotechnique 6X4, look at the other tubes (hint: 5814 = 12AU7).
FWIW: the Tungsol 6X4 works fine for me, as do all other NOS USA that I have tried.
