I have read here and other places about tubes being microphonic, gassy, and having tube rush. What can you expect to hear through your system when the above starts happening with your tubes? Also what are the early indicators that a tube is shorting out?

The reason i ask is i noted that during startup on my tube pre that it would hum noticeably in one channel for about 3 seconds after the slow start feature kicked off then would work normally. Is this one of the three problems mentioned above or something else entirely?

I replaced the tubes in the preamp and the issue went away, so i assume it is a tube issue. Now just trying to figure out what happened.

I would appreciate if you could also describe what to expect with the issues listed above so at least i knew what to expect if it happens. Thanks in advance for all replies.
