DanL, hi. What you say may be true. I've never tried any tubes SE other than 45, 50, 2A3, 300B & 845. I did try 6AQ5 around 1963. The EL34 amps I have are all PP. I'm not in love with the EL34 per se. I just think 'second class tube' tends to besmirch a perfectly good power tube. And, yes, there is some irrational animus targeting the EL34. Lately I've been hypnotised with my two stage 45 amp. AQ DS-050. I just can't seem to shake how good it is. Anyway, I said Sayonara when you bailed out many moons ago and never said Howdy when you came on back. So, DanL, it's good to have you around these parts again. You have good things to say.
