Being that the 1614 is a metal bottled tube many people use other varieties of the 6L6 in their MC30s.

I know that the MC30 is Steve Hoffmans favorite MC amp. He's got a well trained ear that man so I do trust his opinion.

According to Mike Samra though when the MC60s are properly rebuilt they sound quite nice as well.

I guess it depends on the efficiency of your speakers and the amount of power you need to give you the listening levels that you desire for the type of music you listen to.

I'm wanting to pick up some MC amps as well and have been contemplating the same question. Would be nice to have both lol!

I've actually been considering the MC225 7591 amp as well. According to some people it is the best sounding tube amp Mac made.
