Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I just took delivery of a brand new matched quad of Winged C 6550 tubes for use in my PrimaLuna Prologue 5.
I haven't tried swapping places of any of the tubes yet, but the one on the furthest left position in the amp has a much brighter glow from the internals than the rest. When you look right inside the grey part inside the glass of this one tube, you can see a bit of what looks like a light filament (apologies for not knowing the correct terms) glowing a bright yellow, which is what is causing the extra glow.
It sounds fine as far as I can tell, but I just wondered if this sort of difference is normal on tubes, and whether it is something that will disappear as they 'burn in', or whether it is something I should be concerned about?
Thanks for any advice.
