I settled on GE 5751 JAN in my Leak Stereo 20. On a tube tester, it tests like an ECC83. Whether it tests exactly like a 12ax7 I don't know - British equipment used ECC83's. I've put my Mullards and Brimars on the shelf for now. It's a cheap and plentiful tube.
