Dear Rob,
Yes a pushpull tube amp. can be run pure class A. It only means that both tubes are conducting both halves of the waveform all the time. Although less efficient than AB or B, the distortion is many times lower, plus the crossover distortion is minimized. This is generalization. Hope this helps.
