While it has been my experience that indeed the English tubes are not overly endowed in the warmth department, I have never found them to be bright. Additionally, I find that the neutrality and "organic correctness" (sorry!) are absolutely compelling, as it is to many of us. You might contemplate a change in the predriver tubes, and/or use of a different preamp mix. This has provided me with a quite nice level of warmth.
