And he's right. You're not buying them for the speed itself. Though faster recovery usually mean softer recovery.
The problem is probably that you're looking for diodes in audio-specific catalogs. They are not audio-specific components like e.g. paper in oil silver foil caps. So you'd better look for them at high power switching components suppliers. May be there are some useful links from www.irf.com
About other kinds of diodes: this question was discussed here several times. So try searching for "hexfreds" or "hexfred". I remember that someone told that Motorola MUR series diodes are good.
Warning: a snubber circuit was always discusses together with the diodes. Though it is very interesting you should not implement it if your amp runs in class AB. This circuit suppresses the noise specific to a rectifier with capasitor filter by increasing the rectifier's internal resistance. This will cause significant sound compression with class AB amp and turn your Jolida into something very similar to Marshall guitar amps.Lesha
