No offense intended to SS fans or Krell, as it is great stuff, but for that liquid tube sound, of which I am a devout follower, why not go tubular on the amp as well? I find that tube watts go a lot further than SS watts.I was recently listening to a Krell power some upper model Theils through a Marantz top of the line CD player. Oooooooh, shrill. Then the same rig powered by a C-J tube amp and pre. Very nice (even though I find Theils a bit bright).
For the cost of the Krell, an all tube rig may just put you in Nirvana.
