There are parts inside a tube that can be attracted by a magnet like maybe a steel cathode..I dont know that would account for your sonic improvement tho..Believe it or not and I stress this a lot and this is taking your tubes in and out of the tube socket cleans the pins and being the tube to socket connection is the weakest spot of the amp,you may have created a better connection causing your sonic improvement.Its also good to spray a cleaner like deoxit 5 in the sockets for better contact and you will always see a definite improvement sonically.The magnetic theory may have some validity but I wouldnt bet the farm on it.
