First reaction......

is that you've got 2 separate problems but I can't tell since there isn't much information to go on, here.

Firstly, glowing plates on output tubes means you've most likely got coupling caps that are leaking DC. This is a common problem on old tube amps. Do not use it again until this has been fixed unless you don't mind a potential fire hazard or wiping out one of the output transformers. You should spend some time reading the tube FAQ to learn more about what all this means.

On the Hafler, I would also suspect some problem with one of the channels. I doubt seriously one caused the other but again, there is insufficient information to draw a potential conclusion.

I'd suggest you make friends with a local bench tech who's familiar with old tube and SS gear to help with your diagnosis.
