They all sound slightly different, and the 807 family has been around for a very long time. It was a workhorse tube in WWII and there must have been many millions made during the war. Because of the top plate cap, most modern designers avoid the tube (except for VTL) because of possible liability issues, but it is a great sounding tube. Prices, even for NOS, are very inexpensive, averaging around $15 each and the prices have been stable for many years.
