I don't know how many tubes your pre requires but excellent signal tubes typically cost around ten bucks. They can last up to 10,000 hours depending on the applied voltage and tube temp. Granted 10,000 hours is the upper limit but even if you toss them after 2,000 hours, the cost to you is minimal. Some NOS tubes cost a bundle but I'm not convinced the price difference is worth it.
Some tubes, such as the common China sourced 12AX7AX are good for only 500 hours according to a tube gear company owner who supplies these as stock, claiming they sound the best. This 500/best is also printed in the owners manual.
If you can't get past having to retube every year or two or three, go solid state. Just remember that when a ss pre breaks, it will be expensive to fix because of the troubleshooting hours that go with dozens or hundreds of transistors, passives etc.
Eventual repairs are a non-issue with my tube gear. Anyone can fix them within minutes!
