1022 on that is the IEC code; IEC was an American importer with legal license rights to the Mullard name in the USA, they could call anything Mullard if they wished. Normally, acid-etched (which cannot be wiped off) production codes must be present to ID actual Mullard plant made. The words Gt Britain at the top on that tube signify the ECC82 as a European (or Mullard) type # (vs the equivalent American type # 12AU7) & do NOT signify country of origin. Likely you did not get scammed nor did the seller purposely mis-represent, but both of you were/are sorely un-informed. Buying @ auction is not wise until you know much more about tubes & what you are actually buying; educate yourself (everything I mentioned above resides in the searchable asylum archives). Or better, buy from Asylum Sponsor tube dealers.
