Shuguang KT88SC is a real "re-issue"

I'm not going to criticize either the JJ KT88 (old or new) or the Gold Lion "re-issue" because I haven't heard them and it wouldn't be fair. HOWEVER, purely from a construction standpoint, the Penta (Shuguang) KT88SC (which I am using and am crazy about) represent the most faithful copy of the original MOV (Genalex) product. They have SOLID carbonized plates (no other current mfr. KT88's have solid plates, not even the GL "re-issues") and they also have plate cooling fins on top (again, absent from all current KT88's). They also have the copper grid posts, etc., AND from what I've heard, have thicker glass, like the old tubes.

They do take some burn-in time, but so do all power tubes. They have great top-to-bottom response (in my fixed bias Mac MC275 MkIV) and sparkle, and seem to have a bit more muscle (power?) than the EH's that came with my amp.

I certainly think the KT88SC tube has more right to the "re-issue" tag then the new Gold Lion ;--)
