The Gold Aero KT99A is either the second or third generation, depending on how late they are. The first generation was labeled KT99 (no A).The KT90, KT99 and KT99A are all the same, generational changes aside. VTL did not change the part number for the later versions. Gold Aero purchased the KT90 from VLT. As far as I know no other vendors used the KT99 designation. Gold Aero did private label tubes for some of the OEMs such as Sonic Frontiers, Audio Research and MFA. These were also labeled KT99 or KT99A.
The KT90 designation came from VTL. Gold Aero chose to use KT99 because it fit the pattern from M-O Valve, KT66, KT77 and KT88.
