What is the fundamental difference between a 6CA7 and an EL-34? Can you use EL-34s in an amp that comes supplied with 6CA7s?
I know I am in the minority but I really like the beautiful mids coming from JJ EL34Ls ,I use blue glass . They don't have the slam of the winged C Svets or the bass that the JJ KT77 have (fat pins) that I have, but they do have the best tone by far. Even if they have a reputation for poor quality and supposedly don't last an eternity or are the most durable. I have not had problems with them myself. The quad I have been using has about 2000 hrs on them, with no sign of giving up.
