I own an SP6B. It uses all 12AX7s in the line and phono stages. Mine was modded by the first owner and takes a 12AU7 in the phase splitter position in each tube array which I roll with 5751s and the 12AU7s and some 12AX7s . The bigger difference is undoubtedly not between the A - C but between those and the 6922 versions D-E. Knowing both the preamp and the tubes I would bet you will find the 6922 versions have a lower noise floor and somewhat less rambunctious gain than the 12AX7 versions.
