Re: Sovtek 6B4 data

I'm sorry but I can only refer you to what JC Morrison said. I don't know where to get the tube data for the Sovtek 6b4.

"the sovtek 2A3 is manufactured to match the transfer characteristic of a 2A3 as much as possible. measurements made by us as well as by others (audio amateur has plate curves in its review of the tube, for example. so does costruaire hifi...) indicate that this is in fact the case. you can use RCA's curves, or ours... big schmear. the center values are the same. if you are looking for a piece of paper that will tell you that you have permission to raise the plate voltage to 450 volts, forget it. i'm the one that would be printing such a thing and i promise you that won't happen. the sovtek 2A3 materials (the plate we use in the 300B) make it a little sturdier in terms of heat but thats it. this means that you can raise the plate voltage and current a bit without overheating the cathode (big problem when you do that because you change the transfer characteristic), but you want to be aware that the cathode is only capable of so much emission in the first place. certainly *NOT* 40 watts worth. material choice can influence safe area of operation as well as the behavior of the tube near saturation and at cut-off. this can be significant in terms of sonics because as the tube moves into these transition areas, they become non-linear. that is not simply non-linear in the sense of harmonic distortion or intermodulation. i mean this in the classical sense, which is to say that they cease to be simple and predictable. because of the low Mu and close spacing of the elements (also a wide grid pitch), i certainly wouldn't recommend running it at 400 volts but you are free to do what ever you like to them once you get them in your grubby little mitts."
