Quicksilver Mini MIte Monoblocks: 100 hours of burn

WHich makes it sound more like a no pain no gain fitness programme for short people, but so it goes.
Well, I've had the amps a for a little over a week now and had them on for a bit over 100 hours so I think it's OK to comment on a relatively burned in sound now.
WOW.
I'm very impressed.
Very impressed.
Especially considering the price, even if they do work out more expensive here than in the USA.
First up, they are amazingly quiet... sort of spooky in a tube amp I think. Together with the (in daylight) feint glow, I find myself having to check they are on if no music is playing.
Then the sound... good, no, very good weight. The bottom end is very convincing, instruments and notes seeming to round out in a very believable way. Yes, I have heard amps which go deeper, heavier, but not at this price and there is no way I find myself thinking "I wish I had more...".
The top end has extended and sweetened.
Imagery has become great and soundstage likewise.
Those tiny little clues, the touch of a finger on a string, the ambiance in a room, are there in a way that has made me look up to see if something is happening in the room, if you know what I mean... a cough and something said and I think I'm not alone... as I said, spooky...
I'm very happy, very impressed. Ans this is with a stock tubes.
I may get round to rolling, but I am also pondering swapping out my Kimber cables and putting in a pair of equivalent Kimber jumpers. Then seeing if I can get a longer than 1 metre pair of interconnects made up to match the Silverlink i'cs I use between CDP and pre ( http://www.osbornloudspeakers.com.au/cables/slvlink.html ) as these only come in that one length.
So rolling is down, oh I want to say hill but down the line a little.
At the moment I can say I am very very happy with these and would recommend them to anyone who can get away with 25w. My Ambience Ribbons are recommended for at least 100w and I am pushing things, but so far no problems at all. Time will tell.
