I've made so many changes in the system that I thought it was worth trying the KT-77s again, so I pulled the Mullards and re-inserted them. MAJOR noise from the right channel. Must have been those pins, which I had "augmented" with a little solder so they wouldn't fall out of the sockets. They worked fine before but not now. Think I'll leave well enough alone.
