I'm running a pair of Sovtek Kt88's in triode. They have the coke bottle shape. I recently bought a quad of Svetlana (not winged C) kt88's. These have a straight cylinder shape. They don't sound alike or work alike.The Sovteks are even sounding top to bottom. The Svetlana's are brighter. The Sovteks hold their bias very well. The Svetlana's drift around a bit.
I think the Sovteks are very rugged; I've abused my set for some years now. I will be replacing them in kind. I would not buy the Svetlana's again. They work, I just don't like the sound.
Oh, one more thing: the plastic guide key snapped off two of the Svetlana's, so easy does it on install/removal.
