Howdy Everyone!
I bought a homebrew SET amp a little while ago that uses EL509 tubes. The EL509's that came with the amp are Sylvania and have the label EL509/6KG6A.
So I was shopping around to get a spare pair and run across the pair linked below on eBay that are label 6KG6A/EL519. From doing even preliminary reading my understanding is that the EL519 is NOT identical to the EL509. Tim De P chose the EL509 for a reason and I have seen people asking if they could sub the EL519 in their EAR amps.
Can someone give me the rundown on these two tubes and the history of the labels etc? I have NO schematics for the amp that I purchased and am not comfortable subbing tubes without being REAL confident of their ACTUAL specs.
ALSO Any sources for quality matched pairs of EL509's and any comments on their sound quality?
