Why on earth would valve suppliers want to do that ? The whole point of the numbering system was to identify the factory of origin , I can see no point whatsoever shipping European valves to India for labelling for example . Within the EEC (UK/France/Holland/Germany etc) , there are no import taxes which makes moot of your 'guess' . At the end of old valve production Philips could not afford to keep up production hence supply from the licensee factories .cheers
