The Grand Prix audio was really light, the horizontal support was made of carbon fiber bent into an upside down "U" shape. When we looked at it, I was thinking in my head, "what? You paid how much for this thing? Are you out of your mind? How much difference could it make? Wait, this thing look so flimsy!"Your comparison is not apples to apples. I've work for a few high tech companies here in the Silocon Valley. Every precision instrument (especially lasers & microscopes, and some of the electronics) will have some type of vibration damping device underneath. Some just use table top ones, and some use an air compressor-supported "rack". These vibration damping devices cost from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. Why? Because vibration is a serious issue when dealing with instruments and electronics. (Hey man, got this from our lab equipment engineers, and he's been doing this for over 25 years)
