Re: Siemens CCa-special ones

Look for ones built on Wednesday, April 25, 1960 at 10:13am. Those are the really special ones. According to Hairy Pierced of Absolute Best Sound, look for ones that still have lipstick on them from the final hand blowing......

Of course I could be wrong, but those are the ones that sound best in my extremely modified ARC SP6c-3a-2b-1, personally blessed by the Great One, Arnie Noodle.

All of the early 60's Siemens are great tubes, be they 6dj8's, 6922's, CCa's. They really don't vary in sound that much and are very tightly matched. But if you really want the best sound, get Telefunkens, either 6922's or CCa's. The 6922's are not that hard to find and not as expensive as the Siemens CCa's. They sound a bit more musical to my ears, like the best of Siemens and Amperex blended.
