I found in my Audio Note M3 preamp that the 4 tubes were due (2.5 years) when it became a tad sharper, particularly on vocal (female) or sax. It is a bit like an old car, you don't realise it until you hire e new one then realise the difference.keep a spare pair in stock, good advice, But you need to tube swop a bit before you do that I reckon. I changed the mid price French tube in my Audio Note Dac 1.1 to a Mullard cryo, and it totally changed the sound, for the better, especially in the upper treble, and bass was bolder and deeper.
Not sure what tubes you have in your unit, but ask around, talk to the manufacturer and try some out. It's cheap and fun when you get it right!
