Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

Re: Is it time to sell our tubes?

If you think that's high, I saw several Telly ECC803S' go for more then $600 each and GZ34/5AR4s around $100+. NOS tubes will always be NOS tubes and aside from there performance will always have some additional value for being correct circa for vintage restorations and maintenance. That being said, with some new production tubes improving in quality and performance there will probably be a price cieling somewhere along the line. Where that cieling lies is anyones quess at this time. It's always nice when something you own goes up in value but like Steve O, I'm also keeping my "hoard" I never intended for my tubes to be an investment, just a supply for my own use. Most of my tubes were purchased 40 or 50 years ago and although I probably have more then a lifetime supply (I'm old) if I had to replace them it would be at today's prices but then again I bought them with yesterday's dollars.
